SSU's McKenna Signs Free Agent Contract with Diamondbacks

SAVANNAH, Ga.--Savannah State baseball player Trevor McKenna has signed an amateur free agent contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The left-handed pitcher has been assigned to the Hillsboro Hops, the Diamondbacks Single A Short Season affiliate in Hillsboro, Oregon.
 
During the 2018 season, the Brooksville, Fla. native struck out a team-high 78 batters in 75.1 innings, while posting a 2-7 record and a 4.18 earned run average.
 
McKenna struck out a career-high 15 batters against North Carolina Central on March 24 of this past season.
 
In his three-year career with the Tigers, McKenna started 38 of the 39 games he appeared in, pitched 211.1 innings while striking out 186 batters. He had six wins and a 4.76 ERA.
 
Before coming to Savannah State, McKenna played at Lake Sumter Community College.
 
McKenna was a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Pitcher of the Week this past season and received MEAC Academic Honors before graduating from Savannah State, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration Management in May 2018.
