NORFOLK, Va., April 2, 2018Coppin State senior Caleb Duhay and Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Dwayne Marshall were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today. Coppin State’s Derek Lohr earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Florida A&M senior Thomas Nicoll was named Pitcher of the Week.
 
Duhay (6-0, 175, Sr., Waipahu, Hawaii) hit a combined .429 (9-for-21) in five games this past week, helping the Eagles to a 3-1 clip against conference foes. He had three multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit games against Norfolk State. In the finale on Sunday, he went 3-for-6 with three RBIs, a double and a triple. Duhay was also a threat on the bases, going 6-for-7 in stolen base attempts, and he scored what wound up being the game-winning run in the 12th inning of the finale against Norfolk State.
 
Marshall (6-2, 205, So., Piscataway, N.J.) hit .444 (8-for-18) in five games this past week, extending his hitting streak to nine contests. He opened the Hawks’ series against Delaware State with a 4-for-6 effort at the plate, driving in a pair of runs and hitting a double. In fact, Marshall hit four doubles for the week, and he had at least one RBI in each game of the Delaware State series. Marshall was also key in the field, going error-free and gunning down a runner from right field to keep the Hawks’ shutout intact in the series finale.
 
Lohr (6-0, 190, Fr., Bothell, Wash.) was 11-for-20 (.550) at the plate in four games this past week, driving in four runs and scoring four times. After going 4-for-6 on Monday against Delaware State, Lohr was a combined 7-for-14 in the Norfolk State series, including a pair of three-hit games in Sunday’s doubleheader. He drove in three runs in the first game of that twinbill, and he scored twice in the nightcap.
 
Nicoll (6-0, 180, Sr., Tallahassee, Fla.) tossed a complete-game shutout against North Carolina Central this past weekend, scattering four hits in nine innings of work while recording 11 strikeouts and not giving up a single walk in helping the Rattlers sweep the Eagles and take over first place in the Southern Division.
 
Other Top Performers
Aaron Rea (CSU) had eight strikeouts in two appearances this past week, including six in eight shutout innings against Norfolk State.
 
Andres Santana (CSU) tied Coppin State’s record for most hits in a game, going 5-for-6 in the second game against Norfolk State.
 
John Capra (FAMU) was .357 in four games this past week, including a 2-for-3 day with two RBIs against Mercer.
 
Toby Hoskins (MDES) tossed seven shutout innings against Delaware State, scattering seven hits and striking out two.
 
Dillon Oxyer (MDES) was 5-for-6 with four RBIs in the series opener against Delaware State.
 
Josh Stikeleather (NCAT) struck out nine in seven innings of shutout ball against Savannah State.
 
Nick Caregnato (NCCU) struck out seven in a combined 5.0 innings of work, while giving up just four hits and one run.
 
Stephen Baughan (NSU) was 6-for-16 (.375) this past week with a home run, double, three runs scored and two RBIs this past week.
