NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 19, 2018North Carolina Central sophomore Corey Joyce was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Bethune-Cookman’s Jeremy Adams earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Savannah State senior Trevor McKenna was named Pitcher of the Week.
 
Joyce (6-1, 190, So., Lexington, N.C.) went 6-for-15 (.400) at the plate as North Carolina Central won two out of three against Wagner, driving in seven runs and scoring three times. He was 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs in the series opener, before going 3-for-5 with two doubles in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader.
 
Adams (6-2, 170, Fr., Seminole, Fla.) won his collegiate debut on Sunday, tossing five innings of three-hit ball against Mercer. The right-hander gave up just one earned run and struck out three batters in a game the Wildcats eventually won 8-6.
 
McKenna (6-0, 185, Sr., Brooksville, Fla.) threw six no-hit innings in a season-opening 2-0 win over Delaware State, striking out seven Hornets and walking just one.

Danny Rodriguez (B-CU) had a pair of home runs and four RBIs in a three-game series against Mercer.
 
Marcos Castillo (CSU) had a pair of two-hit games in a doubleheader split with North Carolina A&T State.
 
Quinn Gleed (CSU) struck out four in 7.2 innings of five-hit ball against North Carolina A&T State.
 
Allen Saar (CSU) went 3-for-4 with a triple in the first game against North Carolina A&T State, before driving in a pair of runs in the second game.
 
Jordan Curtis (FAMU) went 3-for-4 in the Rattlers’ 8-1 win over Marshall, hitting a two-run home run.
 
Milton Rivera (NCAT) had a pair of two-hit games in a doubleheader against Coppin State, scoring three runs.
 
Justin Williams (NCAT) went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the second game against Coppin State.
 
Jonathan Figueroa (NCCU) gave up just four hits and an earned run in five innings against Wagner.
 
Austin Vernon (NCCU) recorded a pair of strikeouts in a hitless inning in his first collegiate appearance.
 
Daryl Harper (SSU) drove in a pair of runs in the Tigers’ season opener against Delaware State.
