MEAC Bowling Ready to Close Out Opening Month

The final weekend of October will see the top three programs in the 2018-19 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Predicted Order of Finish in action on the lanes, as Delaware State, Maryland Eastern Shore and North Carolina A&T State will each square off against nationally-ranked competition.

This past weekend saw six teams in action, including the 2018-19 openers for Florida A&M, Morgan State, North Carolina A&T State and UAB. The Aggies turned in the best team performance of the weekend, finishing third in the Tulane Sugar Bowl in harahan, La. UAB came in sixth in that tournament, with Florida A&M coming in 10th.

Coppin State, Howard and Morgan State each competed in the Mount St. Mary's Shootout, with Morgan State going 7-2 overall and finishing sixth in the team standings. Coppin State, despite finishing 11th, opened the weekend with an upset of No. 24 Kutztown.

NCAT went 11-2 and holds the best record in the MEAC. UAB went 10-3 over the weekend.

Aggies freshman Pamela Warr was named MEAC Bowler of the Week, turning in the sixth-best traditional pinfall average at the Tulane Sugar Bowl and posting two 200 games in leading North Carolina A&T State to such a strong opening weekend.

The Aggies, the preseason favorite to win the MEAC and ranked No. 11 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Preseason Coaches Poll, will be back in action this weekend, competing in the McKendree Invitational.

No. 8 Delaware State will be competing in the Caldwell Cougar Classic, as will No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore, which will open its 2018-19 campaign.

After this weekend, only Norfolk State will remain to open its season.
