MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Delaware State’s Darnell Maisonet and Norfolk State’s Alex Mauricio were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Baseball Players of the Week, the conference announced today. Norfolk State’s Chase Anderson earned Rookie of the Week, while Ricky Page of Florida A&M was named Pitcher of the Week.

Maisonet (OF, 5-10, Fr., Tall Pines, N.J.) batted .727 (8-for-11), with one double, three RBIs, three runs scored and two walks, in three games against Maryland Eastern Shore. He went 3-for-3, with three runs scored, to help lead the Hornets to a 7-1 win.

Mauricio (SS/3B/P, 6-0, Sp., Midlothian, Va.) went 5-for-8 (.625) at the plate in three wins over Richmond and Coppin State. He finished with one home run, two doubles, three RBIs, four walks and two stolen bases. On the mound, he recorded two saves.

Anderson (2B/3B/P, 5-9, Fr., Norfolk, Va.) earned two wins, in relief, against Richmond and Coppin State. He scattered three hits, fanned two and allowed only one earned run.

Page (LHP, 5-11, 185, Sr., Ocala, Fla.) tossed a complete-game shutout, with five hits, against North Carolina Central. He notched a career-high eight strikeouts and did not allow a walk in the victory.

Brian Davis (FAMU) hit his fifth home run of the season, in a 4-0 win over North Carolina Central.

Lane DeLeon (DSU) pitched a complete game and fanned 10 in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Mike Escanilla (UMES) notched 15 putouts and 13 assists, without one error, in five games against Pittsburgh and Delaware State.

Sean McGrath (DSU) tossed a three-hit complete-game against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Bryant Miranda (CSU) finished with five hits, four runs scored and two RBIs, in three games against Georgetown and Norfolk State.

Andrew O’Dwyer (CSU) totaled three hits, two RBIs and two runs, against Georgetown and UMBC.

Adan Ordonez (NCAT) went 7-for-11, with seven RBIs, in a series sweep of Savannah State.

Tom Prospero (NCCU) belted a three-run home run in the 9-6 win over Florida A&M.

Jordan Turner (UMES) struck out a career-high five batters in a win over Delaware State.

Andrew Vernon (NCCU) struck out five against Florida A&M.
