FAMU Sweeps Twinbill From NCCU
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M (17-9, 7-1 MEAC) scored 22 runs and pounded out 23 hits to sweep a doubleheader over North Carolina Central (13-16, 5-6 MEAC) by scores of 6-3 and 16-4 at Moore-Kittles Field on Saturday.
In game one, the Rattlers rallied to score five runs in the eighth inning to secure the win. Marlon Gibbs drew a bases loaded walk in the eighth inning to plate Willis McDaniel for the go-ahead run. In game two, FAMU scored 13 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game away. Alec Wong had two home runs in game two and seven different Rattlers recorded two hits in the game.
FAMU reliever Hunter Fillingim (2-0) earned the game one win after working 2/3 of an inning with no runs allowed, but walked two batters. Kendal Weeks came in to record the final two outs, including a strikeout to end the game, for his second save of the season. Game one starter Ryan Anderson pitched a season long 5.1 innings and allowed two unearned runs on six hits and tied a season best with three strikeouts. Anderson also tied a season high with three strikeouts.
Ricky Page (2-2) picked up the win in game two as he worked five innings and gave up three runs (one earned) with three strikeouts and four walks.

Hornets Win Game Two To Earn Split Of Twin-Bill With Hawks
DOVER, Del. --- Freshman Sean McGrath tossed a complete game to lead Delaware State to a 4-3 win over UMES in game two of a MEAC North doubleheader at Soldier Field today. UMES scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the opener 5-2.
In the seven-inning nightcap, McGrath allowed four hits and three runs, while striking out 10 and walking one. He fanned at least one batter in each inning, punching out the side in the fifth and two hitters in the seventh. McGrath’s performance gave Delaware State its first complete game and home victory of the season.
The doubleheader split gives Delaware State a 5-21 overall record and 5-2 mark in the MEAC, while UMES stands at 6-19 and 2-5.
The Hornets and Hawks will wrap-up the series with a single nine-inning game on Sunday. Start time has been pushed back to 1 p.m.

NSU Sweeps Road Doubleheader From Coppin State
BALTIMORE, Md. – Brian Beard drove in a career-high four runs in the opener, and Alex Mauricio and Angel Rosario homered to help the Spartans rally in game two and sweep a doubleheader from Coppin State, 12-2 and 6-3, on Saturday at Joe Cannon Stadium.
The Spartans, who won their fourth and fifth consecutive MEAC Northern Division games, improved to 11-13 overall and 5-2 in the conference with the two victories. NSU also moved into a first-place tie with Delaware State atop the division.
Beard went 2-for-5 with four RBI and leadoff man Denathan Dukes finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored in game one. Justin Lee, Roger Hall and Syeed Mahdi had two RBI apiece.
Matt Outman (3-2) earned a win in his second straight start for NSU. Outman allowed two runs in six innings and struck out five.
Lee went 2-for-4 and Hall 2-for-5 in the opener.
In game two, senior right hander Cooper Jones relieved starter Jonathan Mauricio in the fourth and pitched the final 3.2 innings of the game to earn the victory. Jones (2-1) struck out a career-high six batters and allowed just one hit and no runs. Jonathan Mauricio took a no-decision despite yielding just one hit in his 3.1 innings of work.
Alex Mauricio had a career-high four hits, going 4-for-4 with two RBI in the nightcap as the Spartans out-hit CSU, 10-2.
The teams conclude their series with a noon game on Sunday.
