NORFOLK, Va. — Bethune-Cookman junior Michael Cruz was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Delaware State’s Todd Henry earned Rookie of the week, while Coppin State’s Krystian Negron was named Pitcher of the Week
Cruz (C, 5-11, 210, Jr., Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) batted .583 (7-for-12), with five home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs scored and seven walks against North Florida, Miami (Fla.) and North Carolina A&T State. He powered the Wildcats with a game-winning home run, in a 4-2 win over North Carolina A&T State. Also, he did not commit an error in 15 chances last week, recording 13 putouts and two assists.
Henry (INF, 5-10, Fr., Egg Harbor, N.J.) registered a .438 batting average (7-for-16) against La Salle and Coppin State. He finished the week with one double, seven RBIs, six runs scored, four stolen bases and two walks. Also, Henry recorded three hits and drove in a career-high six RBIs in a 14-6 win over Coppin State.
Negron (P, 6-2, Fr., Miami, Fla.) picked up his second win of the season by tossing a complete-game shutout against Delaware State. He scattered six hits and fanned seven in the 32 batters faced.

Scott Bean (UMES) finished with one strikeout in 3.2 innings pitched to pick up a no-decision against Norfolk State.
Austin Bentley (DSU) belted his first-career grand slam and tied a career-high with five RBIs in a 14-6 win over Coppin State.
Connor Breslin (UMES) batted .500 (6-for-12), with one double, two runs scored and two RBIs, against Norfolk State.
Ben Ellzey (FAMU) finished with four hits, two runs scored and two RBIs, in a 14-9 victory over Florida Gulf Coast.
Conrad Kovalcik (NCCU) went 3-for-5, with five RBIs, a solo home run and a grand slam homer, in a 15-11 loss to Campbell.
Bryant Miranda (CSU) finished with six hits, five RBIs and four runs scored against Towson and Delaware State.
Alex Mauricio (NSU) batted .438 (7-for-16), with one home run, seven RBIs and two runs scored, in a conference sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Adan Ordonez (NCAT) went 9-for-17 (.600) for the week, with three doubles, one home run, seven runs batted in and six runs scored against UNC-Greensboro and Bethune-Cookman.
Matt Outman (NSU) scattered seven hits, with four strikeouts, in seven innings pitched against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Juan Pizarro (B-CU) surrendered just one hit in 6.2 innings pitched, with two strikeouts, in a 4-1 non-conference win over North Florida.
Danny Rodriguez (B-CU) went 3-for-5, with one home run and one double, three RBIs and two runs scored in a 9-7 victory over North Carolina A&T State.
Austin Vernon (NCCU) fanned 11 batters in 6.0 innings, in a 4-2 loss to Savannah State.
