MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Florida A&M senior Dylan Dillard was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Coppin State’s Krystian Negron earned Rookie of the week, while North Carolina Central’s Andrew Vernon was named Pitcher of the Week

Dillard (RF/1B, 6-1, 205, Sr., Kissimmee, Fla.) batted .438 (7-for-16) against Alabama State and Savannah State. He had three multi-hit games, including a 2-for-5 performance, with two triples, four RBIs and two runs scored, in a 12-5 conference victory over Savannah State.

Negron (P, 6-2, Fr., Miami, Fla.) recorded his first collegiate pitching victory with a complete-game four-hitter in a 3-1 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. He fanned four and surrendered one earned run in the victory.

Vernon (RHP, 6-3, 240, Sr., Raleigh, N.C.) marked his first career start with five complete innings and eight strikeouts against Bethune-Cookman. He allowed just two earned runs and five hits in the victory. Also, he retired the first six batters in order and notched four straight strikeouts.

Austin Bentley (DSU) posted a career-high four hits in the MEAC opener against Norfolk State.

Connor Breslin (UMES) notched his first-career triple against UNC-Greensboro.

James Dey (NCCU) batted .467, with seven hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs, against Presbyterian and Bethune-Cookman.

Donte Lindsay (B-CU) pitched 6.0 innings, with six strikeouts and two earned runs, in an 8-3 win over Quinnipiac.

Willis McDaniel (FAMU) registered two RBIs, two runs scored and one home run, in a 14-8 win over Alabama State.

Hunter McVey (DSU) recorded the save in 1.1 innings pitched, with one strikeout, in a win against Norfolk State.

Chris Melrath (UMES) fanned two, walked one and surrendered one hit in four innings against Coppin State.

Clay Middleton (B-CU) extended his hitting streak to 13 games and went 10-for-20 (.500), with four runs scored and three RBIs, against North Florida, Quinnipiac and North Carolina Central.

Bryant Miranda (CSU) went 6-for-11 (.545), with one home run and four stolen bases, against Mount Saint Mary’s and Coppin State.

Joey Nicastro (UMES) recorded two hits, including one double, in a loss to Duke.

Danny Rodriguez (B-CU) went 3-for-11 (.273), with one double, three RBIs and two runs scored, in a three-game series against North Carolina Central.

Danny Rodriguez (FAMU) pitched a complete-game three-hitter, with four strikeouts, in a 7-2 win over Savannah State.
