N.C. Central Out-hit by Presbyterian in Defeat
CLINTON, S.C. – Both North Carolina Central University and Presbyterian College were swinging hot bats as the clubs combined for 29 hits, but the Blue Hose defeated the Eagles 15-6 at the PC Baseball Complex.
PC (10-5) plated seven runs in the first inning, sparked on a two-run homer to left from Weston Jackson and the Blue Hose went on to bat around in that frame.

Dey finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles, and was responsible for two of the first four runs scored for the Eagles. Ortiz also stood out at the plate as he went 3-for-5 with a run batted in.
NCCU heads back to the Durham Athletic Park to host Bethune-Cookman for a Southern Division series starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19.

Melrath Shines, Trower Homers as Hawks Fall To Duke
DURHAM, N.C. — For most of the game, Maryland Eastern Shore played competitive ball with the Duke Blue Devils. However, Duke pulled away late on the way to a 9-1 victory over UMES at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The loss is the sixth straight for the Hawks, dropping them to 4-12 on the season.
Sophomore starter Chris Melrath settled down after a rough start, conceding just two hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts. Fellow sophomore Scott Bean pitched one inning of scoreless relief for the Hawks.
On the offense, sophomore Jamison Trower hit his second home run of the season—a smash over the “Blue Monster” in left field—to account for the only run the Hawks scored tonight. Another key performance came from freshman Joseph Nicastro, who slashed a single and a double.
For the Blue Devils, starter Kellen Urbon recorded a career high seven strikeouts and catcher Cris Perez went 4-for-4 with three doubles.
The Hawks will be back in action with a contest against UNC Greensboro. A 6:00p.m. first pitch is scheduled.
