MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Syeed Mahdi of Norfolk State and Dylan Dillard of Florida A&M were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced today. Norfolk State’s Chase Anderson earned Rookie of the week, while Florida A&M’s Ricky Page was named Pitcher of the Week

Mahdi (OF, 5-8, So., Odenton, Md.) registered a .350 batting average (7-of-20), with seven hits and five runs, three home runs, nine RBIs and four doubles. He hit a three-run home run in a win over Towson.

Dillard (RF/1B, 6-1, 205, Sr., Kissimmee, Fla.) went 6-for-15 at the plate with three home runs, 10 RBIs and two doubles, in four games. Defensively, he recorded 13 putouts in the 2-1 victory over Bethune-Cookman.

Anderson (P/IF, 5-9, Fr., Norfolk, Va.) allowed four runs and fanned five batters in three games. He earned two relief wins against North Carolina Central and Towson.

Page (LHP, 5-11, 185, Sr., Ocala, Fla.) pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out five, in a 2-1 win over Bethune-Cookman.

 

Other Top Performers

Jamar Criss (CSU) notched six hits and two runs, including two RBIs, in four games against UMBC and NJIT.

Alex Dandridge (NCCU) recorded a season-high seven strikeouts in six innings, in a victory over North Carolina A&T State.

Bryant Miranda (CSU) went 3-for-4 at the plate, with three earned runs and one double, against NJIT.

Tom Summers (UMES) belted his first collegiate home run against VMI.

Trevor Theissen (NCCU) batted .455 (10-of-22) with 10 hits, six runs score, one home run and four RBIs, in five games.

Jessey Valdez (UMES) tallied 17 putouts with two assists, in four games.
