MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Alec Wong of Florida A&M was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Bethune-Cookman’s German Hernandez earned Pitcher of the Week, while Florida A&M’s Willis McDaniel earned Rookie of the Week.

Wong (INF, 5-6, 160, Sr., Rockledge, Fla.) registered a .750 batting average (9-for-12), including nine hits and four runs, with one home run and six RBIs, in a three-game series against Marshall. Defensively, he recorded four putouts and seven assists, without an error.

Hernandez (P, 6-3, 205, Sr., Cleburne, Fla.) tossed 8.0 scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eight, in a 6-0 victory over Murray State.

McDaniel (CF, 5-9, 165, Fr., Tallahassee, Fla.) totaled five hits and six runs, including two home runs, in three games against Marshall. He went 3-for-4, with three runs and five RBIs, in a 20-4 win against Marshall.

J.P. Black (UMES) posted a 1.80 ERA, while scattering three hits over five innings and giving up only one run, in a 5-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson.

Cole Davis (DSU) pitched 3.2 hitless and scoreless innings against Gardner-Webb.

Jo Jo Durden (FAMU) allowed three runs on three hits, in 5.1 innings pitched, in a 9-4 win over Marshall.

Jameel Edney (B-CU) went 4-for-11 at the plate, with four hits, including one double, one run and one RBI, in three games against Murray State.

John Kraft (CSU) finished with five hits, four runs, including one home run, and four RBIs, in three games against the New York Institute of Technology.

Zach Mills (UMES) registered five strikeouts in 5.0 innings, allowing two runs, against Fairleigh Dickinson.

Devin Sutorius (CSU) pitched 4.0 innings, striking out two, in a win over the New York Institute of Technology.

Milton Rivera (NCAT) tallied four home runs, going 5-for-12 at the plate, in three games against Navy.

Danny Rodriguez (B-CU) notched two hits, including one home run and two RBIs, in a 6-0 win over Murray State.

Jessey Valdez (UMES) finished with five hits, including two doubles, two runs and four RBIs, in three games against Fairleigh Dickinson.
