MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Delaware State’s Charles Dailey earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. DSU teammate Lane DeLeon was selected the Pitcher of the Week, while North Carolina A&T State’s A.J. Hunt earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Dailey (OF, 6-0, r-Sr., Pasadena, Md.) batted .643 (9-for-14), with eight RBI, seven runs scored, two doubles and one triple in a three-game sweep of Coppin State. He went 5-for-6, with a career-high five RBI, along with one double and one triple, in a 17-0 win over Coppin State.

DeLeon (P, 6-2, Fr., Georgetown, Del.) took a no-hitter into the seventh before losing it with two outs against Coppin State. He fanned nine in his first-career complete game shutout.

Hunt (3B, 5-11, Fr., Chesapeake, Va.) batted .500 (5-for-10), with three runs scored, to help the Aggies take two of three from Savannah State. He went 2-for-4, with two runs scored and one RBI, in a 7-5 victory over the Tigers.

Stephen Butt (NSU) pitched seven innings, with eight strikeouts, in a 5-4 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Brandon Fleming (FAMU) recorded two wins as a reliever against North Carolina Central.

Ryan Kilmon (NSU) batted .500 (6-for-12) with two doubles, one triple and one home run, against Richmond and Maryland Eastern Shore.

Jerry Liang (NCAT) registered five strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched in a 2-0 win over Savannah State.

Adan Ordonez (NCAT) went 3-for-5, with a run scored, in a 7-5 victory against Savannah State.

Christian Triplett (NCCU) finished with three hits, including two home runs, in a 9-4 loss to Florida A&M.

Jared Walker (FAMU) went 4-for-5, with one double and three RBI, in a 6-3 win over North Carolina Central.

Tanner Whiteman (UMES) pitched a 1-hit shutout and fanned five in 7.0 innings against Norfolk State.
