Wildcats Take Series from N.C. Central with 11-7 Win
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jameel Edney drove in four runs and Bryant Munoz pounded out three hits to help Bethune-Cookman take down North Carolina Central, 11-7 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) baseball action on Sunday afternoon at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. With the win, B-CU picked up its first conference series win of the 2015 campaign.
The offense came to life, and the starting pitching was at its best on Sunday. For head coach Jason Beverlin and the Wildcats, everything seemed to finally be clicking at the same time for the first time all season.
Bethune-Cookman (3-13, 3-3 MEAC) starting pitcher Tyler Norris looked almost untouchable in just over six innings on the mound, while the B-CU offense surged ahead early-on. The Wildcats would score nine runs in the first three innings, getting to the North Carolina Central (4-8, 3-2 MEAC) bullpen in just the third inning.
Bethune-Cookman returns to action Tuesday, March 10, when the Jacksonville Dolphins visit Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark for a game slated to begin at 6 p.m.

Baseball’s Comeback Falls Short in Series Finale
ROCK HILL, S.C. — Spurred on by superb relief pitching and a late offensive attack, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team made a strong comeback attempt against the Winthrop Eagles in the series finale. However, the rally would fall one run short and perhaps one inning too late as Winthrop held on, 4-3, sweeping the Hawks.
Both Mike Escanilla and Connor Breslin each collected two hits for the Hawks, as did sophomore Justin Dattilo (Pittsbugh, Pa.). Senior Jordan Bone (Pittston, Pa.) started for UMES, going 3 2/3 innings and giving up three runs.
The loss drops UMES to 2-10 on the season, while Winthrop improves to 10-4. If weather permits the Hawks will face Yale in a mid-week affair on Wednesday in Princess Anne. The single game is scheduled to begin at 2:30p.m., and the contest will serve as the team’s home opener.
