Hawks Round Up Colonials in 8-3 Victory

ARLINGTON, Va.  — Under a cold and rainy sky in Northern Virginia Tuesday, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team squared off in its first midweek contest of the season against the George Washington Colonials. The Hawks were able to further dampen the spirits of the Colonials as the team pounded early and often en route to an 8-3 victory. UMES won the game because of a collective effort both offensively and defensively.

With the victory the Hawks improved to 2-7 on the young season. Additionally, the team picked up its first win over George Washington since April 2013.

The Hawks keep chugging along this weekend with a three-game series against Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. First pitch for Friday’s contest will be at 4:00 p.m., followed by 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. start times on Saturday and Sunday.
