NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central’s Ronald Thompson earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. Matt Outman of Norfolk State and Tanner Whiteman of Maryland Eastern Shore were selected Pitcher of the Week, while North Carolina Central’s Devin Sweet earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Thompson (OF, 6-1, r-Sr., Chadbourn, N.C.) registered a .538 batting average (7-for-13), including one home run and one double, with seven RBIs and seven runs, against Maryland Eastern Shore and Florida A&M. Defensively, he recorded 10 putouts and two assists, without an error.
Outman (P, 6-3, Jr., Chesapeake, Va.) recorded nine strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched, while scattering three hits and giving up one run, in a 10-4 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Whiteman (P, 6-3, Jr., Cazenovia, N.Y.) registered seven-shutout innings of 1-hit baseball against Norfolk State. He added five strikeouts and one walk.
Sweet (P, 5-11, Fr., Greensboro, N.C.) tossed 7.0 shutout innings, with six strikeouts and allowing two hits, in a 7-0 victory against Florida A&M.

Zach Chandler (SSU) recorded one save in 1.1 scoreless innings pitched, in two appearances, against North Carolina A&T State.
Alex Dandridge (NCCU) allowed one run in 7.0 innings worked, while striking out three, in a 6-1 win over Florida A&M.
George Dragon (CSU) registered five hits, including one home run, against Delaware State.
Lane DeLeon (DSU) pitched 6.2 innings, fanning a career-high 12 batters, in a win over Coppin State.
Chris Gonzalez (DSU) finished with 10 hits, including two doubles, against La Salle and Coppin State.
Joshua James (UMES) went 2-for-5 at the plate, including a walk-off single in the 11th inning, in a 4-3 victory over Coppin State.
Adan Ordonez (NCAT) notched four RBIs and three runs scored in a 10-6 win against Savannah State.
David Richards (SSU) finished with four hits, including one home run, in an 8-7 victory over North Carolina A&T State.
