Coppin Loses Two to Delaware State
DOVER, Del. - The Coppin State baseball team dropped a pair of hard fought games to Delaware State by scores of 16-15 and 18-13 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.
Each high-scoring affair featured plenty of clutch hits, walks and suspense. Unfortunately for Coppin State (1-15 overall, 0-6 MEAC), the Hornets (5-11, 5-1) were able to win both games in their final at-bats to remain in sole possession of first place.
Despite the defeats, Coppin State had players ring up significant numbers during the weekend series highlighted by George Dragon's seven hits over two games on Sunday. He was 5-for-5 in the opening game. It was his fifth multi-hit game of the season. He was also the first CSU player to enjoy a four-hit game this season.
Coppin State returns to action Tuesday afternoon when it hosts George Washington in a non-conference contest at Joe Cannon Field beginning at 3:00 p.m.

B-CU Baseball Falls Late at Florida Gulf Coast, 9-8
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman allowed four runs in the seventh inning on Sunday, as Florida Gulf Coast earned a come-from-behind victory in the series finale over B-CU, 9-8 at Swanson Stadium. With the win, FGCU sweeps the weekend series from the Wildcats.
The win went to Jordan Desguin out of the bullpen, keeping his record clean at 2-0 on the year. Eagles starting pitcher Josh Dye lasted just three innings, allowing the home run from Robinson and three hits total. However, he threw 52 pitches after three frames.
B-CU’s offense was paced by Jordan Robinson’s 3-for-4 effort, adding three RBI and scoring once on the solo home run. Equally impressive at the dish was Thomas, finishing with a 3-for-4 day, adding a pair of runs and two RBI.
The non-conference woes continue for Bethune-Cookman, as the Wildcats have now dropped 30th consecutive out-of-conference contests dating back to March 26, 2014. On the year, the Cats are 0-17 against teams away from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
They will look to turn things around Tuesday evening, as Bethune-Cookman hosts FIU inside Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
