Coppin Loses

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Coppin State baseball team tied a season-high in runs during a 12-7 setback to Wofford in a non-conference contest at King Field Wednesday night.

 Leading Coppin State’s offensive attack was Bryant Miranda, who had his second three-hit game of the season. He had three hits against Army on March 7. Miranda finished with hits in each game against Wofford.

 Michael Wright and Lance Montano also had two hits each for the Eagles (1-12 overall). George Dragon extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the ninth inning. Dragon has reached base in every game this season for Coppin State.

N.C. Central Sweeps Maryland Eastern Shore, 4-3 & 7-1

DURHAM, N.C. – Junior first baseman Christian Triplett ripped four hits including his first home run of the season in leading the North Carolina Central University baseball team to a 4-3 and 7-1 doubleheader sweep of visiting University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday at Durham Athletic Park.

NCCU extended its home win streak to five games and improved to 8-11 overall. UMES fell to 5-13 after losing the non-conference twin bill between two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference cross-divisional programs.

Triplett had a pair of base hits in both contest and finished with three RBI and three runs scored. The Wilkesboro, N.C., products big day included a double in the first game and his deep home run to right field in the nightcap.

NCCU will be looking to build on its 6-2 home record this weekend when the Eagles host MEAC Southern Division rival Florida A&M University. The two programs are scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. both days.

Longwood defeats Aggies

GREENSBORO -- Colton Konvicka had two doubles and a home run and he drove in three runs to lead Longwood to a 10-5 win over North Carolina A&T in non-conference baseball action at War Memorial Stadium Wednesday night. 

The Aggies (2-14) have now lost six straight, four of them at home. Kyle Clary and Brandon Wilkerson both had 2-for-5 days for A&T with Wilkerson scoring a run and driving in a run. The Aggies were hampered by 15 Longwood (8-11) hits, six were extra base hits. 

The Aggies are back in action on Saturday when they face conference foe Savannah State in a 1 p.m., doubleheader at WMS.
