Coppin Falls to Navy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Jonathan Calvin had two hits and scored for the Coppin State baseball team during a 20-1 loss to Navy in a non-conference contest at Max Bishop Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
Coppin State will return to action next Wednesday, March 4 when it plays its home opener against UMBC at Joe Cannon Stadium at 2:00 p.m. The Eagles scheduled weekend series against Morehead State was cancelled because of cold and inclement weather expected in the Morehead (Ky.) area this weekend.

Eagles Score First; Blue Devils Score Most
DURHAM, N.C. – The Eagles struck early and first, but Duke University scored often and last as the Blue Devils defeated North Carolina Central University 12-1 at Jack Coombs Field on Wednesday evening.
Eric Kimber went 2-for-4 on the day, with one run for NCCU (1-5), and pitched 2.1 innings allowing six hits, five runs (all earned), and struck out two batters, and was also saddled with the loss (0-1).
The Eagles return to the diamond on Saturday, Feb. 28 as they host North Carolina A&T State University with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. with the second game slated to start at 4 p.m. at the Durham Athletic Park. Admission is free.

B-CU Diamond Cats Stumble against No. 15 UCF, 18-8
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – No. 15 UCF used a big eight-run fourth inning to break open a tight game Wednesday night, keeping themselves unbeaten on the campaign on the strength of an 18-8 decision over Bethune-Cookman at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
Shortstop Jordan Robinson tallied his sole RBI of the night with a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing leadoff man Jake Welch to score from third.
The win went to UCF’s Eric Hepple, earning his first win of the year, with four innings worked out of the bullpen, allowing just two hits, walking one and striking out a pair. Norris collected the loss, tossing three innings and giving up four runs on four hits and walking three with three strikeouts. The B-CU bullpen was tagged for 14 runs on 15 hits and amassed eight strikeouts in six innings combined.
The Wildcats will look to earn their first win of the game Saturday, Feb 25, when they open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play against Florida A&M at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Saturday’s game is scheduled for a doubleheader with the first game going nine innings, and the second scheduled for seven. First pitch of game one is set to begin at 1 p.m.
