#BCUBaseball Falls to Mercer in Home-Opener, 3-2
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Keith Zuniga tossed six frames and allowed just a pair of runs Friday night, but it was Mercer coming up with a pair of clutch seventh inning runs to claim the series-opener from Bethune-Cookman, 3-2 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
B-CU got its hits from a trio of players – Austin Garcia, Bryant Munoz and Demetrius Sims.
Askew collected the win, improving to 2-0 on the year – with the Bears’ two wins on the season coming on the arm of Askew. He finished the night throwing 6 2/3 innings, scattering two hits and allowing two unearned runs, while striking out six against just a single walk.
B-CU’s Zuniga was equally impressive in the no-decision. He finished with a line of eight hits allowed, but just two runs (one earned) and producing six strikeouts against zero (0) walks.
The Wildcats will look to even the series Saturday at 1 p.m., back at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
