MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central’s James Dey earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Alex Dandridge was selected Pitcher of the Week, while Norfolk State’s Alex Mauricio earned Rookie of the Week honors. 

Dey (C, 5-10, Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) batted .500, with a slugging percentage of .833, in a three-game series against Norfolk State. He totaled three hits, including two doubles, during the series.   

Dandridge (P, 6-2, Jr., Arlington, Texas) allowed one hit and no earned runs, with eight strikeouts, in eight innings pitched of a 6-1 victory over Norfolk State.

Mauricio (2B/P, 6-0, Fr., Midlothian, Va.) drove in two runs in a 5-3 win over North Carolina Central. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.

 

Other Top Performances

Ryan Kennedy (FAMU) finished with four RBIs, three hits, including one double, in a three-game series against Marshall.

Matt Outman (NSU) struck out a career-high 10 batters, in six innings pitched, against North Carolina Central.
