CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Bethune-Cookman’s Montana Durapau notched his final collegiate honor this week, as the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced him among the honorees on the ABCA All-Atlantic First Team.

The right-handed pitcher from Deltona, Fla. was named Preseason and regular season Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Pitcher of the Year, in addition to his first team All-MEAC honor, and finished the season with an 11-1 record and 1.61 ERA, ranking sixth in the NCAA in WHIP (0.85).

As a senior in 2014, Durapau wrapped up his collegiate career with a 25-15 record and 287 strikeouts across 350.1 innings, going on to be selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 35th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He is currently playing for the Jamestown Jammers, the Short-Season A affiliate of the Pirates.

Durapau’s first team All-Atlantic selection is the first All-Region honor of his career and the first for the Wildcats under Coach Beverlin. Beverlin was himself named to the All-Atlantic team at Western Carolina in both 1993 and 1994. The team was selected by coaches across the region that spans the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (27-33) concluded the 2014 season in the NCAA Coral Gables (FL) Regional with a 1-2 postseason record after collecting the program’s 17th Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title in Norfolk, Va. at the conference tournament.
