MEAC Announces Baseball Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – Delaware State’s Eddie Sorondo earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. Bethune-Cookman’s John Sever was selected the Pitcher of the Week, while Delaware State’s Eric Sharff earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Sorondo (C, 6-1, Sr., Jersey City, N.J.) batted .417 (5-for-12) against Maryland Eastern Shore and New York Tech last week. Sorondo drove in seven and scored five times. He went 2-for-2, with two hits, including one double and three RBIs, in a 10-7 win against New York Tech.

Sever (P, 6-4, Jr., Travelers Rest, S.C.) scattered a pair of hits in seven innings of relief work against No. 6 Washington.

Sharff (P, 6-3, Fr., Laurel, Del.) pitched two scoreless innings against Maryland Eastern Shore. Sharff allowed one hit and struck out four to record his fourth save of the season.
