NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman senior Josh Johnson earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Wednesday. Florida A&M’s Davis Duncan was named Pitcher of the week, while Devin Hemmerich of Norfolk State earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Johnson (RF, Sr., Tampa, Fla.) batted .500 (4-for-8), and scored the game-winning run to defeat Cal State-Northridge 2-1 in the Wildcats’ season opener.
Duncan (P, GS. Stark, Fla.) pitched six innings, allowing six hits and one earned run, in a 3-2 victory against Navy. He also struck out six.
Hemmerich (LHP, Fr., Norfolk, Va.) pitched four innings of relief at the Furman First Pitch Invitational against host Furman and Toledo without allowing an earned run.
Other Top Performers:
John Sever (BCU) pitched three hitless innings and struck out six batters against Cal State-Northridge.
Bennie Robinson (FAMU) belted a home run and drove in the game-winning run, with a double, in a 3-2 win against Navy.
