Roberts Named to Summer Leaugue All-Star Game

BALTIMORE -- Coppin State pitcher Michael Roberts has been named to the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star team as announced by the league office on Monday.

Roberts, who is playing for the Hamilton Joe's, earned his spot on the All-Star team following an outstanding first half of the season. He currently has a 3-0 record with one save and an earned-run average of 0.55.

Roberts, who will be a junior at Coppin State next fall, has surrendered just one run in 16.1 innings pitched and has struck out 19 batters.

He is tied for second in the league with three victories and would rank second in ERA if he had enough innings pitched to qualify.

Roberts will play for the South team during the All-Star game, which will be played on July 10 at Western Hills High School in Cincinnati.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is comprised of 10 teams and is in its 25th year of existence.
