UMBC Downs Coppin State in Eagles Regular Season Finale
BALTIMORE -- Riley Stephenson pitched seven strong innings leading UMBC to a 6-0 non-conference victory over Coppin State on Thursday at Joe Cannon Stadium in the Eagles regular-season finale.
Stephenson allowed just four hits in seven scoreless innings to lead UMBC to its second-straight victory. Cam Maxey pitched the final two innings for the Retrievers and struck out two batters and didn't allow a hit.
Kevin LaChance went 4-for-5 and drove in a run to lead the UMBC offensive attack. UMBC also received RBI's from Jake Barnes, D.J. Smith and Mark Esposito.
UMBC improved to 14-27 overall, while Coppin State ended the regular season with a record of 16-31.
Jack Kraft paced the CSU offense as he went 2-for-4 including a triple. Ian Arciaga and Chris Kashangaki also had base hits for the Eagles.
