SSU defeats NCCU in DoubleHeader
DURHAM, N.C. – After dropping game one to Savannah State 7-1, North Carolina Central University could not get the game-winning hits in the eighth and 10th innings of the second contest, leaving five runners stranded in the 4-2 defeat as the Tigers earned the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) series victory at the Durham Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon.
NCCU mustered up just one hit in the bottom-half of the frame to drop the doubleheader by the score 4-2.
Despite recording a no-decision, Frye threw 8.0 innings allowing only three hits with two earned runs with six strikeouts. He’s now three away from 200.

That’s as close as the maroon and gray got in game one as SSU (23-17, 10-5 MEAC) added a run in the eighth and two runs in the ninth, while starter Kyle McGowin continued to dominate, earning his ninth win of the year working eight innings with seven strikeouts to give him 95 on the year, which leads the nation.
Offensively for the Eagles, Thompson had by far his best day going 4-for-8 (.500) with two doubles and an RBI.
