Duke defeats Eagles 8-3
DURHAM, N.C. – Duke defeated the Eagles of North Carolina Central University 8-3 on Wednesday night at Jack Coombs Field.
Jordan Quinn (Goldsboro, N.C.) despite taking his first loss at NCCU put together another gutsy performance on the hill as he went 7.2 innings scattering 12 hits and allowed three earned runs with a walk and two strikeouts. Quinn is now 5-1 on the year.
Duke’s Dalton Brown (1-0) earned his first win of the year going 4.0 innings surrendering 7 hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts. Reliever Nick Hendrix struck out five batters in just 2.0 innings of work for the Blue Devils.
Despite the loss, NCCU (21-15, 9-6 MEAC) got to see the best performance at the plate by Thompson who went 3-for-5 with a double and a stolen base to record his first three-hit game of Eagle career. Current MEAC Rookie of the Week, Kimber went 2-for-3 with a walk at-the-dish as well.
Duke (21-14, 8-7 ACC) was led by Andy Perez’s 4-for-5 effort with a run and an RBI, along with McCabe who was 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
The loss drops the maroon and gray to 0-12 all-time against the Blue Devils, and the Eagles have yet to score more than three runs against Duke.

Hamlett's Walk-Off Single Lifts Coppin State Past Navy
BALTIMORE -- Sophomore David Hamlett hit a two-out, walk-off single lifting Coppin State to a 7-6 victory over Navy on Wednesday at Joe Cannon Stadium.
Coppin State (10-19) trailed 6-5 entering the bottom of the ninth inning before rallying to record its second victory of the season against Navy in as many tries. The win pushes the Eagles current winning streak to five straight, which marks the longest winning streak since the 2010 season.
Michael Roberts picked up the win for Coppin State as he worked the final two innings and didn't allow a hit and struck out three batters.
Hamlett was 1-for-5, but drove in three runs to pace the CSU offense. Chris Kashangaki had two hits and drove in a run and Chris Godfrey also had a hit.
Brad Borosak, Kash Manzelli, Craig Veech and Jack Keller drove in runs for Navy (17-17).
Coppin State returns to action this weekend when it visits Delaware State for a three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic series which gets underway on Saturday.

UNF defeats Florida A&M 2-0
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida A&M Baseball dropped another close one as UNF blanked the Rattlers, 2-0, here Wednesday afternoon at Harmon Stadium in a non-conference match up.
FAMU out hit the UNF, 8-4 in the contest as Michael Birdsong went a perfect three-for-three from the plate to lead the Rattlers, while Tyler Maricov, Ryan Roberson, Drew Weeks and Corey Bass finished with one hit each for the Opsreys.
Evan Incinelli (4-0) picked up the win for UNF as he pitched seven inning, allowing seven hits and striking out two, while Ryan McMahon got the save for the Ospreys as he pitched two innings of relief, allowing hit in seven batters he faced.
Kelvin Singletary received the loss for FAMU as he pitched eight inning, allowing four hits, two earned runs and striking out five in the 31 batters he faced.
