Bethune-Cookman Win Streak Reaches Six with 5-3 Win at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (20-17) extended their current win streak to a season-high six games, while completing the sweep of the two-game season series with the Jacksonville Dolphins (11-22), Tuesday night at John Sessions Stadium.

The Wildcats turned a season-best three double plays and athletic outfield snags for Eros Modena, Turner and Lee helped keep the Dolphins checked throughout the game.

Ferguson (2-2) earned the win after stabilizing the game in relief through the early frames.

Lee’s timely hitting was a key to the Wildcats’ victory, putting up three RBI on 2-for-5 batting. Matt Noble went 3-for-4 while both Turner and PJ Biocic were 2-for-4.

The Wildcats (10-5 MEAC) are without a game for three days, preparing for the rematch with Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foe North Carolina Central (21-14, 9-6) at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, Saturday to Sunday (April 13-14), battling for control of the MEAC Southern division pole position.

North Carolina A&T loses to Campbell 10-2

BUIES CREEK, N.C.—  The North Carolina A&T baseball team lost 10-2 to Campbell at Jim Perry Stadium. 

Junior shortstop Luke Tendler went 4-for-4 and scored one of the A&T runs. It was the most hits in a game by an Aggie this season.

The Aggies (11-22) totaled 10 hits on the evening, but struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, stranding at least one runner in eight innings. That was not a problem for the Fighting Camels (29-5) who recorded 11 hits and 10 walks off of six A&T pitchers on the evening.

UMES comeback falls short against Towson

TOWSON, Md. – Down five runs after six, UMES put together a three-run seventh inning to come close to coming back against Towson but came up short, falling 7-4 at John B. Schuerholz Park.  Despite its best-ever performance against Towson, UMES falls to 5-30 overall while Towson goes to 16-16.

UMES tried to comeback in the final two innings, getting on a pair of runners in each of the final two innings, but was not able to produce a run in either frame, falling to Towson 7-4.

Towson’s Paul earned his first win of the season, allowing one run in six innings.  Teammate Greg Baruka pitched the final two innings without a score  for his first save of 2013.  The loss went to Black, who had five runs charged in five innings.

Bull finished a home run away from hitting the cycle, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.  Escanilla also was 3-for-5, concluding with a double and an RBI.

For the Tigers, Fratantuono went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, runs and RBI.  Bennett got two hits in four at bats, scoring a run.
