SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State junior pitcher Kyle McGowin is featured in a story on the Baseballamerica.com website.
In the story, McGowin is projected to be a “sleeper” draft prospect in the 2013 baseball draft.
As a freshman in 2011, McGowin posted a 5-4 record with a 5.20 earned run average. He also stuck out 67 batters. Last season, McGowin struck out 91 batters and finished the year with a 3.15 ERA and a 6-5 record.
During the past two summers, the Sag Harbor, New York native has played in a summer college league.
The 6-3, 175 right-hander has a fastball that has been clocked at 95 mph while his changeup is in the low 80s. He can also use a slider, which has been clicked in the upper 70s.
Currently, McGowin has a 6-0 record with a 1.68 ERA and 57 strikeouts.
