Coppin State junior Chris Kashangaki earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball for games played March 11-17, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Myles Taylor was named Pitcher of the Week, while North Carolina A&T’s Jeovanny Tolentino earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Kashangaki (CF, 5-10, 180, Jr., University Park, Md.) hit .700 (7-for-10) with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI to lead the Eagles to a conference series victory over UMES. The wins marked the first MEAC series victory since the 2010 season. Kashangaki recorded an on-base percentage of .769 and slugging percentage of .900. He also stole four bases and tallied six putouts.
Taylor (P, 5-11, 205, So., Erail, N.J.) allowed no earned runs in a 7-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. Taylor pitched 7.0 innings with four strikeouts allowing only four hits and no runs in the victory.
Tolentino (2B, 5-8, 150, Fr., Deltona, Fla.) batted .500 (6-for-12) with one double, three runs scored and three RBI in four games. In the last game of the series against Bethune-Cookman, Tolentino hit 3-for-4 (.750) with one RBI. He added 10 putouts and eight assists in the four outings.

Dylan Drayton (NCCU) was 3-for-5 (.600) to lead the Eagles to a 7-4 victory over Savannah State.
Jeffrey Fleetwood (UMES) was 2-for-3 with one double and two RBI in a 7-6 loss to Coppin State.
Kelvin Freeman (NCAT) batted .353 with a team-best seven runs and five RBI to aid his team to a 3-1 record.
Glenn Frye (NCCU) earned the victory with a 0.00 ERA while striking out two of 28 batters in a 14-0 win over Savannah State.
Zach Markel (NSU) matched his career-high with three hits and a personal best four RBI in a 6-5 loss to Delaware State.
George Michael (DSU) pitched 6.1 innings to earn a save and a win against Delaware and Norfolk State, respectively.
Eddie Sorondo (DSU) batted .375 with two doubles and three RBI to aid the Hornets to a 4-1 mark.
Brandon Turner (B-CU) hit .533 including one triple, one double and four RBI to aid the Wildcats to a 2-2 mark last week.
Will Turley (UMES) struck out three, pitched 6.0 innings, and tallied a 0.00 ERA in a win over Coppin State.
Kirby Whicker (NCAT) was 2-0 with a 1.50 in 6.0 innings against Lehigh and Bethune-Cookman.
