Bethune-Cookman Advances to MEAC Title Game
The defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Champion Bethune-Cookman Wildcats advanced to tomorrow's championship game with a 3-0 victory over the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks, Saturday morning at Marty L. Miller Field.
Due to the threat of inclement weather, tomorrow's championship game has been rescheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
Maryland Eastern Shore (14-38) will play tonight against the winner of Delaware State and North Carolina A&T for a berth in the MEAC title game.
Bethune-Cookman (33-24) was led by David Lee who was 1-for-4 with two RBI and Brashad Johnson who added another RBI.
James Newsome led the Hawks with two hits in three appearances.
Karim Gonzalez (1-6) pitched a complete game allowing six hits, three run (one earned) while striking out a career-high 11 batters.
Rayan Gonzalez earned the victory with eight scoreless innings pitched, striking out seven. Jordan Dailey got his 11th save of the year after a unblemished ninth inning.
Delaware State Eliminates North Carolina A&T, 4-2
Delaware State defeated North Carolina A&T 4-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Championship tournament on Friday afternoon at the Marty L. Miller Field.
The Hornets (38-16-1) advanced to face Maryland Eastern Shore in a elimination game. The winner will move on to face the defending MEAC Champion Bethune-Cookman Wildcats tomorrow at 9 a.m.
Tony Gatto and Scott Davis led the Hornets with two RBI each. Davis was 2-for-3 while Gatto had one hit and one run in the victory.
Marquis Riley was 2-for-4 for the Aggies, while Bo McMillian and Stefan Jordan each had one run batted in.
MEAC Player of the Year Ryan Haas earned the win pitching 7.0 innings with four hits, two runs and striking out three to improve to 4-1 on the year. Derek Marshall earned the save after allowing two hits and walking one batter in 2.0 innings.
Ruben Torrellas (1-6) took the loss. Torrellas allowed seven hits, four runs (four earned) and struck out one batter in 6.0 innings of action.

Delaware State advanced to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Championship game with a 7-2 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday evening at the Marty L. Miller Field.
The Hornets (39-16-1) will meet the defending MEAC Champion Bethune-Cookman Wildcats in the title game tomorrow at 9 a.m.
Bethune-Cookman will vie for its seventh consecutive title, while Delaware State will look for their first title since 1989. The Hornets, who have lost one game in the tourney, must beat Bethune-Cookman twice in order to capture the title.
Tony Gatto recorded two hits; a run and two RBI in three plate appearances while Cameron Cecil, Ryan Haas, Troy Drummond and Aaron Nardone each had one run batted in.
Maryland Eastern Shore concluded their season with a 14-39 mark. Bryon Campbell and Malik Wylie led the Hawks with one RBI each.
Bobby Brown earned the victory allowing 11 hits and two runs (one earned) in 7.1 innings.
James Smith took the loss with six hits, four runs (four earned) in 2.2 innings of action.
