NORFOLK, Va., April 23, 2012- Norfolk State sophomore Cameron Day earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday. Savannah State's Kyle McGowin was named the Pitcher of the Week, while Mikey Bruno of Norfolk State earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Day (OF, 6-0, So., Virginia Beach, Va.) hit .500 with a triple, one double, six runs and six RBI to aid the Spartans to a 3-1 record last week. In the first game of the series against Coppin State, the sophomore was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI in a 12-5 victory.
McGowin (P, 6-5, So., Sag Harbor, N.Y.) struck out 15 batters and allowed four hits in a complete game 6-0 shutout win against Florida A&M. The left-handed pitcher earned a 0.00 ERA, while allowing one walk in 9.0 innings.
Bruno (OF, 5-11, Fr., 160, Fredericksburg, Va.) batted .438 (7-for-16) with four runs and three RBI for the Spartans in four games last week. In an 8-11 loss to Old Dominion, the rookie was 2-for-3 with one run, a RBI, and a stolen base. He added six putouts defensively.

Heath Blackburn (FAMU) earned a 1.73 ERA and struck out four in 5.2 innings for an 8-3 win over Savannah State.
Byron Campbell (UMES) batted a .417 with one homerun, two doubles and two RBI last week for the Hawks.
Troy Drummond (DSU) was a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI in a 17-2 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Jordan Elliott (DSU) pitched 7.0 innings allowing no runs on six hits in a 12-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Jacob Foreman (UMES) allowed three hits and no earned runs in six innings pitched against Delaware State.
Sam Fulmer (NCCU) earned a 1.12 ERA and struck out four in a 5-4 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
Julius Green (SSU) batted .467 with three doubles, two runs and a RBI to aid the Tigers to a 2-2 mark last week.
Khiry Hernandez (FAMU) hit .750 with four RBI and two runs in an 8-3 win over Savannah State.
Daniel Lee (FAMU) was 2-for-3 with a triple, double and two runs in an 8-3 win over Savannah State.
Estarlin Paulino (NCAT) pitched a season-high 9.0 innings, earning a 3.00 ERA and striking out three in a 4-3 loss to Longwood.
Marquis Riley (NCAT) hit 1.000 (3-for-3) with two RBI in a 3-4 loss to Longwood.
Ryan VanAssche (NSU) earned a 1.29 ERA and struck out nine in a 9-1 win over Coppin State.
Brandon Wilkerson (NCAT) was 2-for-2 (1.000) with a run and a RBI in a 6-9 loss to USC-Upstate.
Carter Williamson (NCCU) batted .500 with three RBI to aid the Eagles to a 1-1 mark last week against Bethune-Cookman.
