N.C. A&T To Host Bethune-Cookman In A Nationally Televised Baseball Game

NORFOLK, Va., April 16, 2012- The reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) baseball champion Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to take on the North Carolina A&T State University Aggies in a televised baseball game, Friday, April 27 at War Memorial Stadium.

The game will be televised live on ESPNU beginning at Noon EST.

Six-time defending MEAC tournament Champion Bethune-Cookman sits atop the southern division with a 12-3 mark in MEAC play and 23-14 overall. Brashad Johnson leads B-CU with 21 RBI, one home run, two triples, and six doubles. In 111 appearances this season, Johnson has recorded 34 hits and a .315 batting average. On the mound, Rayan Gonzalez has pitched 56.0 innings and tallied a 6-0 mark with a 1.77 ERA.

The Aggies are 7-8 in conference play and 13-23 overall. Senior Marquis Riley leads the team with a .359 batting average in 142 appearances. He has recorded two home runs, 34 RBI and 51 hits this season. Estarlin Paulino, the 2010 MEAC Pitcher of the Year, is 5-3 with a 3.90 ERA. The senior pitcher has struck out 42 batters in 55.1 innings.

The 2012 MEAC Baseball Championship is slated for May 16-20 at the Marty L. Miller Field on the campus of Norfolk State University in Virginia.
