NORFOLK, Va., April 9, 2012- Delaware State sophomore Eddie Sorondo earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday. North Carolina A&T's Estarlin Paulino was named the Pitcher of the Week, while Aaron Jones of Coppin State earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Sorondo (C, 6-0, So., 190, Jersey City, N.J.) hit .636 with seven hits in 11 appearances to aid the Hornets to a 3-1 record last week. In the first game of the series against Norfolk State, Sorondo was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and 3 RBI. He added three assists and 16 putouts in the defensive effort for the week.
Paulino (P, 5-7, Sr., 170, Santo Domingo, D.R.) struck out a season-best 11 batters and earned a 1.12 ERA in a 8-1 win against Florida A&M. The left-handed pitcher did not allow any walks and only one run in 8.0 innings.
Jones (SS, 6-0, Fr., 160, Willingboro, N.J.) batted .471 (8-for-17) with a run scored and three RBI. In a 6-5 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore, Jones was 4-for-5 with an RBI. He added 16 assists and nine putouts.

Tyler Boone (NCAT) earned a 0.00 ERA, allowed four hits and one walk and struck out two in a 6-0 win over Florida A&M.
Jeffrey Fleetwood (UMES) batted .313 with one home run, one double and five RBI to aid the Hawks to a 3-1 mark last week.
Jacob Foreman (UMES) allow just two hits in and struck out eight in a 10-4 victory against Coppin State.
Sam Fulmer (NCCU) struck out a season-high eight batters in a 10-6 win over Longwood.
Ryan Haas (DSU) struck out six and walked one in a 3-2 loss to Lehigh.
Gabriel Hernandez (B-CU) earned a 1.00 ERA while striking out five and allowing one run in a 2-1 victory against Savannah State.
Javon Johnakin (FAMU) allowed two runs, struck out two and walked two in 4.2 innings of relief for the Rattlers.
Josh Johnson (B-CU) batted .400 with one triple, 3 RBI and six runs in five games.
Joe Mackey (NCAT) allowed two runs on three hits in 4.0 innings of relief for the Aggies against Florida A&M.
Tyson Simpson (NCCU) was 7-for-15 (.467) with one double and 5 RBI in four games.
Dylan West (FAMU) was a perfect 3-for-3 in a loss to Florida International.
