Maine completed their sweep of the Florida A&M Baseball team as the Bears handed the Rattlers, a 17-7 defeat, here Wednesday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field.
Maine (3-2) finished the contest with 18 hits as they had three Bears to finish with three hits each.
FAMU (1-8) tallied 15 hits in the contest as both Jared Walker and Jarryd Reid finished with three hits each for the Rattlers.
Manny Pupo (1-0) got the win for the Bears as he pitched four innings, allowing seven hits, five earned runs and striking out two, while the mound for Maine, whereas David Duncan (1-2) received the loss for the Rattlers as he gave up seven hits, nine earned runs and striking out five in three and two-third innings on the mound.
FAMU cut Maine's lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning as Cory Franklin scored on a wild pitch.
The Bears added to their lead as they score two runs in their half of the third and four runs in their half of the fourth to take 9-1 lead after three and one-half innings of play.
FAMU would erupt in the bottom of the fourth inning as Reid scored on wild pitch, followed by a Daniel Lee two-run single scoring both Jaylin Earl and Aaron Smith, followed by Jared Walker triple scoring Lee, cutting the Bears lead to 9-5.
Maine would then take a 13-5 lead after seven and one-half innings of play.
Reid led off the bottom of the eighth with a double to right center and then would score on a Aaron Smith double to left center, followed by a Jaylin Earl single scoring Smith, making the score 13-7 in favor of the Bears.
Maine would then plate four more runs in the top of the ninth for the 17-7 final.
