Bethune-Cookman second baseman Alejandro Sanchez earned MEAC Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday.   Teammate Gabriel Hernandez was named the Pitcher of the Week and Norfolk State's Justin Bhatti earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Sanchez (2B, 5-11, Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) hit .538 with six RBI and two home runs to aid the Wildcats to a 3-1 record last week. Sanchez posted seven hits in 13 at-bats and defensively collected 10 putouts and six assists.  

Hernandez (P, 6-0, So., Levitown, Puerto Rico) finished 1-0 against Delaware State last week. The sophomore recorded a 0.00 ERA and struck out five batters in 6.1 innings.  He walked one with no earned runs in the victory.

Bhatti (P, 6-2, Fr., Woodbridge, Va.) collected a win with a 2.79 ERA against Florida A&M. The rookie pitched 9.2 innings last week against Virginia Commonwealth and FAMU, striking out eight and walking only two batters.

Other Top Performers:

Scott Garner (B-CU) had a 2.33 ERA in six innings with two strikeouts against Delaware State.
