B-CU Comes Up Big to Halt FIU Rally in 5-4 Win

MIAMI, Fla. - The Wildcats came out on top earning the 5-4 win against FIU on Wednesday.

Jordan Dailey picked up the save on the mound, with assistance from B-CU's defense, including a diving catch in the outfield for Brashad Johnson, allowing the Wildcats to hold on for the win.

Emmanuel Castro put up the first run for the Wildcats, stealing home on a DJ Leonard sacrifice bunt. The Wildcats scored in three consecutive innings to take a three-run lead as Paul Biocic and Alejandro Sanchez used an FIU throwing error to turn a Ryan Durrence infield shot into two RBI in the third, and Brashad Johnson batted in Leonard in the fourth.

The Wildcats got their fifth and final run in the top of the sixth as Leonard batted in Castro for another run with a single to second base.

Solid B-CU defense held the Panthers to just a single run until the seventh inning, as the Wildcats showed excellent performances on the mound. As the game went into crunch time, FIU started to make noise offensively, taking advantage of B-CU errors, scoring two in the seventh.

Starter Julio Morales (1-0) finished with four strikeouts in the win, while Dailey closed out the game for his fourth save of the season.

Camels Outlast Diamond Eagles In Twinbill Sweep

DURHAM, N.C.  (NCCUEaglePride.com) -North Carolina Central dropped both contests 8-2 and 15-1 against Campbell while managing just ten combined hits on the afternoon.

The Camels jumped in front in the top of the first inning following a Jimmy Brenneman walk and stolen base, which led to back-to-back doubles by Josh Holskey and Alan Denman for Campbell to take a 2-0 advantage.  Denman finished game one 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

Campbell got its only other earned run of the first contest in the third inning when Brenneman walked and stole two more bases followed up by a Holskey RBI groundout putting the Camels up 3-0.
