DSU Hornets Fall to Towson Tigers

 Seven Delaware State relievers allowed 15 hits and 14 walks in a 21-9 loss to Towson at Schuerholz Park this afternoon.

The loss snapped a three-game losing streak for the Hornets, who fell to 21-20, while the Tigers improved to 18-20-1.

Delaware State also collected 15 hits, including three by Scott Davis (3-for-3), who upped his season average to .446. Four other players had two hits each for the Hornets.

Towson's Andrew Parker was 4-for-4 with two homers and five runs batted in, while Austin Harclerode had three hits and three RBI for the Tigers.

Delaware State opened the scoring when Cameron Cecil doubled in Keith Hernandez in the top of the first inning.

The Hornets opened up a 2-0 lead when Brandon Crist singled with one out and scored on a triple by Troy Drummond in the top of the second inning.

Towson answered with seven runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the game. Parker homered to lead off the inning and Harclerode had a three-run triple in the second.

Delaware State scored a run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Nardone to pull to within 7-3.

Parker hit his second of the game in the fourth inning to give Towson an 8-3 lead.

The Hornets scored four runs in the top of the sixth cut Towson's lead to 8-7. Davis had a two-run single and Ryan Haas hit a two-run homer in the DSU sixth. The homer was the fourth of the season for Haas, tying him with Cecil for the team lead.

Towson responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to stretch their lead to 12-7.

The Tigers added two runs in the seventh and seven more in the eighth to open up a 21-7 lead.
