Wildcats Down #17 Stetson in Eleven Innings
DeLAND, Fla. - In their fourth and final matchup of the season with #17 Stetson, the Wildcats found themselves in familiar territory for a face-off with the Hatters; in fact a near mirror image of the tightly-contested first meeting of the year. With most of the game spent as a pitcher's duel, the Wildcats grabbed a mid-game lead but were quickly matched by the Hatters. Pushing to extra innings, B-CU produced the key run in the 11th, holding off Stetson for the 4-3 win.
The Wildcats did make the first strike offensively. In the fifth, B-CU loaded up the bases on a Sanchez shot which took a bad hop off the second baseman, setting the table for Emmanuel Castro. The B-CU senior third baseman fired the second pitch right back at the pitcher up the middle and into center field for two RBI. Peter O'Brien extended the lead with an RBI single through the left side, moving B-CU ahead 3-0 after the top of the fifth.
After halting another B-CU scoring opportunity in the top of the sixth, the Hatters got some of it back in the bottom half. Stetson star Nick Rickles fired a first pitch home run beyond the left field wall. Later in the frame, pinch hitter Ben Carhart hit an RBI single to slim the B-CU lead to 3-2.
The Hatters scored in the seventh as well, knotting it up using two straight singles to left field to put another run up on the board for the 3-3 tie.
The Wildcats exercised only their second intentional walk of the season and it paid off with a groundout to the pitcher, helping the Wildcats to escape bases loaded with no additional runs and a 3-3 tie.
Facing Rickles in the eighth, B-CU went for the intentional walk again, and Chris Anselmo got the crucial swinging strikeout of Robert Crews to get out of a jam and end the inning with no Stetson runs. Anselmo continued to hold it down on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings with two strikeouts, four groundouts, and two fly-outs.
Extending the game into extra innings, the pitchers battled it out in the tenth, but Brashad Johnson got B-CU going with a loop shot right over the first baseman to lead off the eleventh. An error in the outfield on Castro's at-bat allowed Josh Johnson to score and put B-CU on top 4-3.
Joseph Munoz stepped in to wrap up the game as B-CU's closer, earning his third save off two groundouts and the final play, a line drive to Castro at third.
Anselmo (3-3) picked up the win in the game.
Emmanuel Castro's hitting proved most crucial in the game, at 2-6, with his two RBI in the fifth putting B-CU up and Josh Johnson scoring on his at-bat in the 11th.
Brashad Johnson also had an outstanding day, helping to jumpstart the Wildcat offense with 3-4 hitting and one run scored.

TOWSON, Md. - Towson scored runs in five innings, including 13 runs in the sixth, to defeat Maryland Eastern Shore, 26-7, at John B. Schuerholtz Park on Tuesday.
Towson (17-20-1) collected season-high 22 hits to snap UMES' (8-32) three-game win steak.
Seven Tigers recorded multiple-hit games as Ben Winter (3-for-3, one home run, three RBI, two runs) and Austin Harclerode (3-for-5, one double, one triple, four runs, one RB) paced the Tigers.

Down, 11-0, after four innings. UMES scored five times in the fifth to cut it to a six-run deficit. Elliott Alston and Jeffrey Fleetwood reached on a walk and error, respectively, to start the frame. A passed ball moved Alston to third. After a strikeout, Christy took a 1-1 pitch into center field, plating Alston and pushing Fleetwood to second. Then, with two out, Newsome beat out an infield sing to third base, scoring Fleetwood. A wild pitch advanced Newsome and Tre-von Johnson to second and third to set the stage for Mena's three run rocket over the left-field fence.
The homer was the senior's third of the season.
The Tigers got back a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 13-5, and then had an enormous sixth. Towson recorded eight hits and benefitted from two UMES errors. The Tigers sent 18 men to plate. Pat Fitzgerald and Sean Adkins clubbed back-to-back two-run doubles, while Brady Baxter also tallied a bases-clearing, three-run double.
Lewis hammered his first collegiate homer in the eight to left field - a two run shot - in the eighth for the final margin.

Davidson Uses Three Big Innings To Pull Away From NCCU
DURHAM, N.C. -The Davidson Wildcats unveiled an offensive explosion on Tuesday night against North Carolina Central, cracking out a season-high 14 hits and scored a combined 10 runs in three consecutive innings taking down the Eagles 11-4 in the home finale at the Durham Athletic Park.
Early in ballgame the Wildcats pounced on top 1-0 on the heels of back-to-back doubles in the top of the first, the second of which coming off the bat of one of the top hitters in the SoCon, Drew Gadaire, who drove in RBI No. 30 of the season.
Four of the first five hits for the Wildcats were of the extra base variety that included second baseman James Cerbie's second double of the year despite being left stranded in the second frame.
Sophomore Nate Smith put the Eagles on the board in the home-half of the fourth inning with an RBI single giving him 24 on the season and cutting the margin to 5-1 after four innings.
The 4-run advantage was made even safer with freshman Danny Mooney earning a career-high seven strikeouts in six innings of work, but DC was not done yet.
With one out in the fifth, Weiss reached on a walk again and stole second base, which led to first baseman Matt Ray being walked to put two men on. That's when Cerbie crushed his first home run of the season of the left field wall as the three-run bomb put Davidson up 8-1 after five innings.
The final dagger of the evening came in the sixth inning when backstop Daniel Gerow ripped his first round-tripper of the season to right field making it 9-1 and two more runs were added following Seth Freeman's ninth double of the year and freshman Forrest Brandt's single putting runners in scoring position and no outs. Barna's second double of the night added the third and final run of the frame and put DC up 11-1.
The bottom of the seventh saw NCCU cut the deficit to 11-4 as it was highlighted by senior Blake Murray's fifth double of the year to deep center field driving in two runs to give him 17 RBIs on the year.
The Eagles could get no closer than 11-4 falling in its fifth straight contest and dropping its record to 6-37 on the year. The Wildcats on the other hand ended a seven-game skid to push its mark to 17-22. Taking the loss in his final start at home, senior Brandon Oatis gave up four runs on five hits in three innings of work.
