Rattlers Finish Off Sweep In Comeback Over Eagles
DURHAM, N.C. (April 13) - Florida A&M used a six-run seventh inning to left themselves to a 12-9 win over North Carolina Central, Wednesday afternoon at the Durham Athletic Park.
Both FAMU (13-26) and NCCU (4-30) finished with 11 hits each.
The Rattlers were led by both John Scott and Jarryd Reid as they both finished with three hits each, while the Eagles had three players to finish with two hits each.
Stephen Dollar (3-2) picked the win for FAMU as he pitched three innings in relief, giving up two hits and striking out one, while Brandon Oates (1-1) took the loss for NCCU as he gave up five hits and two earned runs in one inning of relief.
The Eagles grabbed a 7-0 lead after three complete inning of play.
In the top of the fourth, FAMU would then mount their comeback as the picked a pair of runs as Cory Franklin scored on an Eagle throwing errors. Then Reid would score on a John Scott single, cutting NCCU lead to 7-2.
NCCU increased their lead to 8-2 in bottom of the fourth as Simpson scored on a Williamson sacrifice fly to center field.
FAMU would score six runs on three hits and take advantage of two NCCU errors to take a 10-4 lead, sparked by a Franklin sacrifice fly to centerfield scoring Jackson Cannon.
The Rattlers would plate two more runs as they picked up a run in the top of the eighth and a run in the top of the ninth.
NCCU would score their final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth for the 12-9 final.
