Bethune-Cookman Complete Sweep Of Rattlers
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 27) - Bethune-Cookman completed their sweep of the Florida A&M Baseball team with a 16-6 win over the Rattlers, Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Park.
B-CU (14-13, 3-0 MEAC) came alive in game three as they belted out a game high 14 hits, while FAMU (8-20, 0-3 MEAC) tallied seven.
Brashan Johnson led the Wildcats from the plate with a team high three hits, while Dylan West finished with two hits to lead the Rattlers.
Scott Garner picked up the win for B-CU as he pitched six innings giving up one hit and striking five, whereas David Duncan took the loss for FAMU as he gave up seven hits, seven earned runs and striking out two in three innings on the mound.
P.J. Biocic gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as he scored on a Peter O'Brien sacrifice fly to left field.
D.J. Leonard increased B-CU's lead to 2-0 as he homered to right center.
FAMU broke up the no-hitter in the top of the third inning with a Tobi Adeyemi double down the leftfield line.
The Wildcats used a pair of big run innings to take an 11-0 lead as they scored five runs in the bottom of the third and four runs in the bottom of the fourth after four complete innings of play.
Peter O'Brien made the score 12-0 Wildcats as he homered to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning.
B-CU would plate two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 14-0 lead as Brashan Johnson scored on a Cesar Rivera single to right field, followed by a wild pitch scoring Anthony Stokes.
FAMU would score six runs in the top of the seventh inning to cut B-CU's lead to 14-6 as Scot Sheplak singled through to the left side scoring Ryan Sheplak. Then Dylan West would score on a B-CU infielder's error. Both Scott Sheplak and John Scott would then score on a Cory Franklin single to right field, followed by a Tony Singleton single back up the middle scoring Antonio Kilpatrick. Then West would single in his second at bat in the inning to score Franklin.
In the bottom of the seventh, B-CU would plate two more runs to invoke the ten-run rule after seven complete innings of play, for the 16-6 final.

Hornets Complete Sweep Of North Carolina Central
Dover, Del. (Mar. 27, 2011) --- Ryan Haas threw seven shutout innings and Cameron Cecil had three hits and two runs batted in to lead Delaware State to a 12-2 non-conference win over North Carolina Central at Soldier Field this afternoon. The Hornets completed a sweep of the three-game series to improve to 9-14 this season. The Eagles fell to 1-22.
Haas (1-0) scattered three singles, while striking three to earn the win.
Delaware State opened the scoring with six runs in the second inning. Cecil tripled in Tony Gatto with the first run, while Keith Hernandez had a two-run single in the inning. The Hornets also scored on bases loaded walks to DJ Miller and Justin Allen, and Haas drove in the final run on a sacrifice fly.
Cecil gave DSU a 7-0 lead with a solo home run in the fifth. He leads the Hornets with three homers this season.
Miller doubled to lead off the Delaware State sixth and Allen followed with triple to give the Hornets an 8-0 lead.
Delaware State scored four runs in the eighth to open up a 12-0 lead.
