Norfolk State University outfielder John Lynch
was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) all-state second team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Lynch, who just completed his junior season, ranked 10th in the MEAC with a .364 batting average. He also ranked third in the conference in both triples (five) and stolen bases (27, in 28 attempts). Lynch added 10 doubles, five home runs and 34 RBI. Defensively, Lynch tallied nine assists from his right field position, which tied for ninth in the nation among Division I players.
George Mason shortstop Ryan Soares was named the VaSID Player of the Year, while Virginia Tech coach Pete Hughes was named Coach of the Year. Virginia's Danny Hultzen was selected Pitcher of the Year, and VMI's Corey Spangenburg was voted Rookie of the Year.
