ALABAMA STATE STINGS RATTLERS, 7-2

Florida A&M dropped their sixth game in row as Alabama State defeated the Rattlers, 7-2 Wednesday afternoon at Patterson Field.

ASU (9-8) outhit FAMU (6-17-1) 8-6. The Rattlers were led by Derrick Shaw with two hits.

Both Kejuan Riley and Drew Quinney finished with two hit each for the Hornets.

Quinney (1-0) picked up the win for the Hornets as he pitched five scoreless innings allowing three hits ands striking out five.

Kelvin (0-1) toed the mound for the Rattlers, allowing four hits, six earned runs and striking out three in six innings of work.

ASU went up 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning as Lloyd Kelly scored on a Quinsy double down the leftfield line.  Then Adrian Snell would hit into a fielder's choice to score Quinney.

Jordon Mims grounded out to the pitcher to score Adrian Snell, giving the Hornets a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.   

The Rattlers got on the board in the top of the sixth inning as Derrick Shaw stole home and Scott Sheplak scoring on a Justin Abney double down the leftfield line, cutting the Hornets led to 3-2.

A bases loaded clearing double to left centerfield by Kejuan Riley scored Snell, Jorrell Frederick and Isaac.  Riley would then score on a Mims double to leftfield increasing ASU's lead to 7-2 in to bottom of the seventh inning.

The Rattlers will return to action on Tuesday, April 12 against Mercer University at Moore-Kittles Field at 1p.m., for game one of a three-game home stand.
