MEAC Announces Baseball Weekly Honors

North Carolina A&T senior James Howard earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday. Teammates Esterlin Paulino was named Pitcher of the Week, while Alex Grubb earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Howard (2B, 6-2, r-Sr., Atlanta, Georgia) batted .500 with 10 hits and nine runs in 20 plate appearances. He recorded one double and seven RBI to aid his team to a 3-2 mark last week, including a conference sweep of Florida A&M. Defensively, Howard tallied 16 putouts from second base.

Paulino (P, 5-6, So., Santo Domingo) tallied a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA in a 13-4 win over Florida A&M last week. Paulino allowed three runs in eight innings and struck out eight of the 31 batters he faced.

Grubb (RF/DH, 6-0, Fr., Lexington, North Carolina) batted .500 in 16 appearances for North Carolina A&T in five games last week. Grubb posted two home runs, two doubles, five RBI for the Aggies.

Elliott Alston (UMES) finished with a .462 batting average including one home run, two doubles and seven RBI in four games for the Hawks last week.

Abe Eubank (DSU) aided the Hornets to a 2-1 mark last week with one home run, two doubles and 5 RBI against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Donnie Haines (UMES) finished 2-for-3 in game two against Delaware State including a home run and one RBI.

Derrick Shaw (FAMU) hit .590 from the plate including three doubles, four RBI in five games for the Rattlers last week.

Harry Williams (CSU) led the Eagles to a 3-1 week by hitting .467 (7-for-15) and tallying one triple, two doubles and seven RBI.
