MEAC Announces Baseball Weekly Honors

North Carolina A&T senior Nick Rogers earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday. Maryland Eastern Shore's Donnie Haines earned Rookie of the Week accolades, while North Carolina A&T's Esterlin Paulino was named Pitcher of the Week.

Rogers (P/3B, 6-1, Sr., Greensboro, North Carolina) batted .650 with 13 hits and 20 at-bat appearances to lead the Aggies to a 4-1 mark last week.  He recorded one home run, two doubles and six RBI. He also tallied two stolen bases, two walks, eight putouts and three assists for the week.  In his pitching duties, Rogers earned the win over Savannah State with five strikeouts and three walks in six innings of play.

Haines (OF, 6-0, Fr., Carneys Point, New Jersey) hit .357 in 14 at bat appearances to aid the Hawks in four games last week. Haines recorded five hits with one home run, two doubles, and four RBI in the victories.

Paulino (P, 5-8, So., Santo Domingo) earned the non-conference win against Savannah State with a 1.80 ERA in nine innings last week. Paulino struck out eight of the 34 batters he faced. He allowed just five hits and one walk in victory. Paulino also pitched one inning against High Point and struck out one of the four batters he faced.

Other Top Performers:

Bryan Chaikowsky (UMES) averaged .563 (9-for-16) from the plate and recorded one home run, three doubles and eight RBI to aid the Hawks to a 2-2 mark last week.

Brandon Cist (DSU) hit .615 with one double and two RBI for the Hornets.

Darryl Evans (FAMU) recorded a season high four RBI in a loss to Southern.

Gabriel Hernandez (B-CU) recorded a win last week with a 0.00 ERA in five innings for the Wildcats.

Patrick Goelz (B-CU) earned the win against Coppin State with a 1.50 ERA in six innings of play.

John Lynch (NSU) led NSU to a 3-3 week with three home runs, eight RBI and a .348 batting average (8-for-23).

Peter O' Brien (B-CU) guided B-CU to a 3-2 mark last week with six hits and two RBI.

Mark Nales (NCAT) hit .368 and tallied five RBI in five games for the Aggies last week.

Ryan Shook (NSU) recorded two saves and one victory in four games last week for the Spartans.

Matt Witte (UMES) struck out three and walked one in a victory over Florida A&M.
