B-CU Completes MEAC Series Sweep over Norfolk State With 6-4 Win Sunday
Solid pitching by Patrick Goelz, Jordan Dailey (2-0), Justin Dahl, and closer Juan Perez (7th save) and Matt Wright's 3 RBI led the Wildcats to a 6-4 win over Norfolk State Sunday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
Wright and Peter O'Brien hit home runs for the Wildcats. It was O'Brien's team-leading 16th round tripper as he is ranked tied for fourth in the NCAA in home runs.
Wright's RBI double in the seventh broke a 4-4 tie and he later scored to make it 6-4 on Alejandro Sanchez SF RBI.
The Wildcats (23-14, 9-0 MEAC) will be at nationally ranked Miami Hurricanes Tuesday night in Miami (6 p.m.) and at UCF Wednesday.

Hawks Plagued By Errors In 5-2 Loss To N.C. A&T
Xavier Macklin went 3-for-4 with three two runs scored and two driven in and Brent Moore pitched eight strong innings as North Carolina A&T topped Maryland Eastern Shore, 5-2, at Hawks Stadium Sunday.
Macklin tallied a triple and double while Moore scattered eight hits and three walks to improve to 3-3 on the mound, completing a weekend sweep of UMES. The Aggies move to 15-21 and 9-3 in the MEAC with the win and the Hawks fall to 2-32 and 1-10 in conference play.
Junior Phil Vaughn and freshman Donnie Haines each had two hits for UMES. Junior Bryan Chaikowsky and freshman Tre-von Johnson scored runs.
UMES got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Chaikowsky walked and stole second to start the frame. After consecutive flyouts, junior Luis Mena knocked a single to left field for the lead.
The Aggies responded with two runs in the fourth off of a pair of the six Hawks' errors on the day. Macklin reached on a bobble by shortstop J.J. Corriveau and went to third on a Marquis Riley base hit to left. Shaquille Bagwell then booted a ball, allowing Macklin to scamper home to tie the game.
N.C. A&T went ahead on a sacrifice fly by Lester Rivenbark before UMES starter Karim Gonzalez ended the inning with a strikeout of Mark Nales.
Errors plagued the Hawks again in the seventh as NCAT opened 5-1 advantage with three runs, all with two outs. The inning was highlighted a bases-clearing triple by Macklin. He shot a ball to right field which brought both Nick Rogers and Dario Little in and Macklin was able to chug all the way around on a Gonzalez throwing error.

Lobos Cruise in Series Finale
Justin Howard had six hits and drove in four runs and Ryan Honeycutt had four hits and drove in seven runs as New Mexico defeated Coppin State 29-3 in the series finale on Sunday at Lobo Field.
The Lobos had 29 hits and scored in every inning but the third to complete the three-game sweep of the Eagles.
Derek Richards had two hits, while Dwight Robinson, Scott Donnelly and Chris Kashangaki each had an RBI for the Eagles.
Harry Williams and Mark Reynoso each added hits for Coppin State.
Mike LaChapelle was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion as he allowed only one earned run in five innings of work to pick up the victory.

DSU's Gardner Pitches Hornets Past Rattlers
Freshman Elliot Gardner tossed his first complete game and Mike Rizzuto drove in three runs to lead Delaware State to an 11-4 win over Florida A&M in MEAC baseball this afternoon.
The Hornets swept the three-game series to improve to 11-19 overall and 7-2 in the MEAC.
Gardner allowed five hits and three earned runs, while striking out a career-high eight, to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Delaware State opened the scoring when Abe Eubank doubled with two outs, and came around to score on a double by Rizzuto in the bottom of the first inning.
The Hornets added two runs in the third. Ryan Haas drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly and Jose Portela singled in the other to give the Hornets a 3-0 lead.
Delaware State opened up a 6-0 lead after scoring three times in the fourth. Florida A&M starter Eric Cotton (0-3) allowed two runs to score on wild pitches and Tony Gatto knocked in DSU's third run of the inning on a fielder's choice. Cotton threw seven wild pitches in the contest.
Rizzuto singled in two runs in the fifth to put the Hornets ahead 8-0. DSU added three runs in the seventh, highlighted by Warren Stimpson's two-run single, to open up an 11-2 lead.
Eubank was 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles. He was 6-for-11 with two homers and three doubles in the series. Rizzuto had seven RBI in the three-game set.
