MEAC Announces Baseball Weekly Honors

Bethune-Cookman junior Juan Perez earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday. Norfolk State's Jason Barker was named Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Richie Salter earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Perez (2B/P, 5-11, Sr., Orlando, Florida) batted .600 with nine hits and seven runs in 15 plate appearances. He recorded six RBI to aid his team to a 4-0 mark last week, including a three-game conference sweep of North Carolina A&T. Perez also pitched two innings last week against Stetson and North Carolina A&T to tally an 0.00 ERA. He struck out four batters and earned the save against North Carolina A&T.

Barker (P, 6-0, Sr., Chesapeake, Virginia) earned the win against Maryland Eastern Shore with a 1.13 ERA in eight innings last week. Barker struck out five, walked two and allowed just six hits and one earned run in the 4-1 victory.

Salter (P, 6-4, Fr., Virginia Beach, Virginia) earned the win last week with a 2.25 ERA in four innings pitched against Maryland Eastern Shore. Salter struck out five of 18 batters and allowed one run and five hits in the victory.

Other Top Performers:

Abe Eubank (DSU) recorded two home runs, one double and nine RBI to aid the Hornets to a 2-1 mark over Coppin State last week.

Jordan Dailey (B-CU) struck out three of 14 batters faced and allowed one run in 3.1 innings of relief to earn the win against North Carolina A&T.

John Lynch (NSU) batted .588 with five doubles and four RBI in four games for the Spartans last week.

Ali Simpson (B-CU) was 1-0 last week with a 1.80 ERA in five innings against North Carolina A&T.

Phil Vaughn (UMES) finished with a .450 batting average including one triple and one RBI in five games for the Hawks last week.
