All-Florida Regional Includes Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes and Jacksonville Dolphins
Bethune-Cookman will travel to Gainesville, Florida to take on the Florida Gators in the NCAA Division I Baseball Regional on Friday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the McKethan Stadium. The Wildcats will be making their fourth consecutive trip and tenth overall to the NCAA Baseball Regional.
Florida (39-20) earned the top seed and will make their 25th regional appearance. Bethune-Cookman (32-26) is 0-3 against the Gators. Their most recent match up occurred in the 2003 Coral Gable Regional.
Second Seeded Miami (Fla.) will meet Jacksonville, who earned the third seed, in the first game at 1 p.m. The Wildcats are 2-1 against Miami this season and 0-2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Wildcats last win in a NCAA tournament occurred in 2002 at the Gainesville Regional where they eliminated Florida International, 7-4.
The Regional will continue through Sunday, with a final game to be played Monday night, if necessary. The Gainesville Regional winner will face the winner of the Atlanta Regional in a Super Regional series next weekend. The eight Super Regional winners advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
