Delaware State third baseman Ross Babineaux earned MEAC Player of the Week honors in baseball, the league announced on Monday. Teammate Dan Perkins was named the Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, while North Carolina A&T’s Xavier Macklin earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Babineaux (3B, 6-1, Sr., Torrence, California) concluded last week hitting .625 (10-of-16) to lead the Hornets to a 2-2 mark. He recorded one home run, three doubles and four RBI. In a conference series against Maryland Eastern Shore, Babineaux batted .667 and tallied four RBI and four runs scored. For the week he added one walk, two stolen bases, six putouts and six assists.
Perkins (P, 6-4, Sr., Newark, Delaware) finished the week with a 0.00 ERA in two appearances for the Hornets last week. Against LaSalle, Perkins struck out all three of the batters he faced during one inning of scoreless relief. Against Maryland Eastern Shore, he struck out a career-high 10 batters while only allowing three runs on five hits during seven innings.
Macklin (OF, 6-1, Fr., Rocky Mount, NC.) batted .400 in 15 appearances at bat to aid the Aggies to a 2-2 mark last week. Macklin tallied one home run, one triple, three doubles and three RBI. The outfielder recorded six hits on six runs for the week and added 11 putouts.

C.J. Beatty (NCAT) recorded one home run, two doubles and four RBI to aid the Aggies to a 2-2 mark last week.
Jermaine Berry (NSU) recorded his second home run of the season and tallied five RBI in a loss to William & Mary.
Brian Chaikowsky (UMES) recorded two hits in three appearances at the plate during game one of a double header against Delaware State.
Anthony Espin (FAMU) picked up the win against North Carolina A&T after pitching nine innings with six strike outs and just three walks.
Pat Hercinger (UMES) hit 8-for-17 (.471) from the plate with one home run, one triple, two doubles and three RBI for the Hawks last week.
Jared Jeffries (FAMU) batted .429 (3-of-7) with one triple and two RBI for the Rattlers last week.
Esterlin Paulino (NCAT) struck out seven of 29 batters in a win over Florida A&M.
Derrick Shaw (FAMU) hit 2-of-3 (.667) from the plate with one double in game two of a doubleheader for the Rattlers last week.
Warren Stimpson (DSU) notched a double and two RBI in four games for the Hornets last week.
