MEAC Announces Baseball Weekly Honors

North Carolina A&T State University designated hitter Jeremy Jones earned MEAC Player of the Week honors in baseball for the second straight week, the league announced on Monday. Norfolk State’s Joey Seal was named Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Chris Joyce earned Rookie of the Week accolades for the third consecutive week.

Jones (DH, 5-10, Sr., Fayetteville, North Carolina) batted .461 (8-for-17) with four home runs and 11 RBI to help the Aggies to a 3-1 record last week. Jones scored nine runs and walked three times, while striking out only once in 17 at bats. 
 

Joyce (3B, 6-0, So., Chesapeake, Virginia) drove in a run in all four Spartans’ games last week, while hitting .267 (4-for-16) last week. Joyce also recorded two doubles and six RBI and did not commit an error in the four games played.

Seal (P, 6-0, Sr., Newport News, Virginia) earned a win in relief during game one of the series against Gardner-Webb. Seal pitched 6.1 innings last week, striking out 10 of the 27 batters he faced and recording a 1.42 ERA.




Other Top Performers:

Brad Stephenson (NSU) batted .625 (7-for-8) with one home run, one double and seven RBI in four games for the Spartans last week.

Osvaldo Torres (B-CU) scored two runs, three home runs, and nine RBI for the Wildcats during three games last week.
